MEET OUR TEACHERS

Michelle Peterson- Director, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop


Michelle has studied jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, hip hop,
and contemporary for 30 years. She has been
training and developing young dancers for over
20 years. Michelle maintains her skills by attending
professional dance classes and conventions all over,
including New York where she studies and trains
with Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, Joe Tremaine,
Doug Caldwell, Cris Judd, Mandy Moore, Barry
Youngblood, and many more.
Michelle was head Drill Mistress at West Jordan High
where she choreographed several dances and taught
fellow classmates. She then danced with the U of U
dance team, The Crimsonline where she performed
at football and basketball games and traveled to
California, Colorado, and Wyoming.
Michelle has spent several years working for Universal
Dance Association as a head instructor and
choreographer, and teaching across the country
She is an experienced judge and has judged for the
nationally televised ESPN Nationals Dance Champion-
ships and is currently judging many local and regional
competitions. With UDA, she performed in the Macy’s
Parade in NYC and performed in Paris and London.
She has also been involved in choreographing for
several local pageants. She has traveled to around

the world including China, Ecuador, and Colombia to

teach dance to children.
Michelle taught at local studios before opening
American Dance Academy in 2001. It’s been open
for 16 years and has been dedicated to training
strong, well-rounded, and positive dancers.

 

Allison McFarland- Ballet, Pointe, Creative

 

Allie began her dance training at the young age

of 3. She trained extensively in classical ballet, pointe,

jazz, character, hip hop, and tumbling.  Growing up, she participated

in many full length ballets including Cinderella (Fairy Godmother)

and The Wizard of Oz (Wicked Witch).  She was a member of

Bingham High School's Dance Company and was also

a Varsity Cheerleader. 

After high school, she received a scholarship to dance at UVSC

where she continued her training in ballet, modern, dance

conditioning and jazz, learning from highly-esteemed teachers.

While at UVSC, she was a member of Synergy, the modern dance

company.  She graduated from UVSC with her dance emphasis. She

danced professionally in 2006 at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

She has taught since 2002, working with kids ages 3-18. She has been

working at ADA since 2005. She loves teaching the art of ballet

and seeing the improvement and growth it gives to her students.

Her favorite part of teaching is the choreography and story-telling.
